Aug. 11, 1890, marked the founding of the first of three Nebraska companies that would eventually join together as Assurity Life. From that company, Modern Woodmen Accident Association, followed by Security Mutual Life in 1895 and the Royal Highlanders in 1896, eventually came Woodmen Accident and Life, Security Financial Life and Lincoln Direct (Lincoln Mutual) Life.

The original companies moved their headquarters to the Capitol City before the turn of the century and became well-known among Lincoln's corporate citizens.

The final consolidation of these three companies as Assurity Life was completed in 2007. In 2009, Assurity announced it would build a new headquarters facility, Assurity Center, in Lincoln's Antelope Creek redevelopment project. Groundbreaking took place Sept. 15, 2009.
