This year we are presenting Assurity Life Insurance Company’s 2010 annual report electronically. It’s a symbol of our company’s commitment to becoming a leader among businesses in their efforts to operate in more sustainable ways. Although Assurity has long followed many environmentally friendly practices, we are moving our plans to a higher level.

Why should Assurity spend valuable time and resources on becoming a corporate leader in sustainability? The overriding objective for any business is to make money for its owners, which in our case means providing our policyowners the best benefits for the least possible cost. Keeping this overarching goal in mind in no way precludes us from conducting business using practices which help our environment. Companies need to stretch in various ways to address the environmental problems our world is facing.
