Assurity receives Groundwater Guardian Green Site Award Nov. 15, 2012 – This designation, based on Assurity's practices related to water use, pesticide and fertilizer management, and pollution prevention, was presented at the Groundwater Foundation's Board of Directors luncheon. WasteCap Nebraska 2012 Sustainable Business Award Oct. 10, 2012 – WasteCap Nebraska named Assurity as winner of its Sustainable Business of the Year Award during the organization's Sustainability Summit in October. The award was accepted by members of Assurity's sustainability task force. The Sustainable Business Award recognizes a business with an active green team that incorporates sustainable business practices supporting innovation in management, purchasing, energy, waste, facilities, employees and community. WasteCap is a member-based non-profit environmental organization, dedicated to assisting businesses in developing and adopting green practices that improve profitability. WasteCap helps business with simple issues like setting up recycling plans and green teams as well as high tech issues dealing with energy, water and air concerns. President's Volunteer Service Award for 2011 August 30, 2012 – Assurity received the President's Volunteer Service Award for delivering Meals on Wheels during 2011. The award includes a congratulatory letter from President Obama, plus a certificate and silver lapel pin. Awards are given to individuals and corporations based on volunteer hours. Assurity associates donated 338 hours to delivering meals and have participated each year for more than 20 years. Sustainability efforts earn recognition June 4, 2012 – Assurity was presented the 2012 Environmental Leadership Award for business by the Lincoln Lancaster County Environmental Health Department at a June 1 ceremony.
