Assurity supplies protective masks to local hospitals.

Assurity provides more than 2,000 masks to Bryan Health.

LINCOLN, Neb., April 2, 2020 – Assurity has donated more than 2,000 protective masks to Lincoln’s Bryan Health network to help combat the COVID-19 pandemic.

The recent mask donations consisted of 1,050 standard face masks and 1,110 N95 respirator masks. Assurity purchased these masks back in 2006 when concerns heightened around the H5N1 (bird flu).

“Insurance has always been about preparedness. At that time, mask purchases were made to provide protection for our associates if needed," says Tom Henning, Assurity Chairman, President and CEO. “But, with current circumstances and the means to help our healthcare workers, it was easy to decide to donate the masks and do everything we can to make sure these heroes stay safe while protecting our communities.”

Masks like those that Assurity provided have been needed since the spread of COVID-19, and it has been difficult for healthcare facilities to get ahold of vital supplies and equipment in the quantities needed. Donations from private businesses and citizens have been helping hospitals and other facilities maintain a safe, sterile environment.

“Our business was built on helping people through difficult times,” says Henning, “And insurance is only one way to do so. Any way we can help our neighbors through a crisis like this, it’s our obligation.”
